Government or Regime?

There is a terrible point in the affairs of a nation when government, obligated to safeguard the rights of its citizens, crushes those rights and becomes a regime. It’s difficult to know exactly when this begins, but there is always a moment when it becomes obvious to all that the nation they once loved has metastasized into something else.

Small Events, Innocuous Decrees.

It might begin with small events and seemingly innocuous decrees. Perhaps the hypothetical nation we are speaking of, a place where free speech was once cherished and defended, now forbids its citizens to criticize a certain belief system. Or maybe the right of conscience of a physician is stripped from them when they object to the practice of euthanasia.

Denying Employment, Demanding “Group Think.”

Again, this may be hypothetical, but suppose students were denied summer employment. Imagine that, in order to gain that employment, they had to sign a document stating that they agreed with the government’s leftist progressive beliefs. Say that, even if they disagreed with practices that went against their personal, moral and religious convictions, they still had to comply or they wouldn’t get the job. Agreeing would cripple both them and the organization they were applying to but the government still makes them do it.

Sex and Gender Curricula. Accept the Unacceptable or Else.

In this vein, purely conjectural of course, perhaps we should consider some other possibilities. What if the provincial or state governments of the nation we are speaking of begins to teach a school sex and gender curriculum that offends the children’s parents, has little or no connection with reality and is forced on the children like the curricula of a tyrannical or despotic regime? Perhaps they might be told that their gender or identity didn’t exist, or that practices or activities they found objectionable must be accepted or celebrated or they will be punished or persecuted. Taking this a step further, what if individual schools who refused to go along with this were threatened with closure or might have their accreditation removed?

The Right to  Protest.

What if, while we are indulging in imaginary scenarios, the right to protest a practice threatening the lives of the unborn was so severely curtailed that people could not demonstrate near, or even in the vicinity of, a facility carrying out such practices, thereby removing their democratic right to protest? What, indeed, would happen if a bill were passed in one of the nation’s largest provinces that forbid the parents from correcting their children’s concept of their gender identity, and, if their three or five year old were to protest, those parents could have their children taken from them by the government?

Imaginary Scenarios, Tomorrow’s Reality.

I know these scenarios might seem ridiculous. I get that, but let’s just imagine that, in another province of our hypothetical nation the provincial teacher’s organization mandated that the phrase “boys and girls” be discouraged or prohibited. Suppose that an acceptable substitute written in the teacher’s “tool kit” was “comrades.” (no connection, of course, to the former despotic communist regimes relegated to the dustbin of history) Imagine as well that special bathrooms were created for the use of a group or groups whose existence was either ridiculously minimal or might not even exist at all.

Parliamentary Motions, Stalinist Memories.

And what if the right to dissent was further crushed by parliamentary motions and laws that could result in jail sentences of up to two years for those who openly criticized beliefs they didn’t agree with? Again, perhaps, in addition to all of this, the government and, in particular its leader, openly disdained his own people calling them “racists” “dumb dumbs” “disappointing” or “__________phobes” (you can fill in the blank) if they disagreed with him. Wouldn’t this mean he had little regard for their democratic rights in a democracy where their rights were all that mattered ?

Time For a Wake Up Call.

Well, rest easy Canada. The things I’ve described above could never happen here. Right? I’m afraid, folks, that it might be time to start thinking about the drift from government to regime as real . Consider this a wake up call. Do your recognize the nation I have described? All of these thing have already happened in Canada.

Let’s Take it Back.

We can no longer ignore what is patently obvious. In fact, since all of the things I have described are now happening in Canada, I would think it is clear that we are now becoming the nation we never thought we would be. The only conclusion I can come to? It is time to take our country back.

  1. I have been a follower for a while now, though have read from afar without commenting. I agree with everything you have said, however, I wanted to point out that summer students are not denied employment if they do not through the summer students work program. My daughter and son are both students and have not had to go through this program in order to be hired somewhere. The program is optional for students who wish to have assistance in getting a job. I think your points about this are great, but this one fact is incorrect.

    1. I think Perry was only referring to students who might want to have applied for jobs with an organization that had in the past gotten funding for summer workers but may be denied any employment with that group because of the present situation.

  2. It is a sad litany of rights stripped away by a regime who is trying to make us into its own image. It is social engineering at its worst. Well said,Perry.

  3. I recommend a book by Gabriele Kuby entitled ” The Global Sexual Revolution ” . You will see documention of the progression of the ideals that are destroying family and church . The U.N. , once dedicated to peace, is now a tyrant.

    1. I agree entirely. I will add Kuby’s book to my “must read” list. I also recommend “The World Upside Down” by Melanie Phillips. One trend I have noticed is that there are more books being published every day exposing the agenda of global Liberal Progressivism. Although people ultimately have to act on all this, it is an encouraging sign. As for the U.N. I know longer see it as the organization it once was. As far as I can see, it is now an international organization for third world and radical interests. When you consider the fact that the O.I.C. ( Organization of Islamic Co-operation) is now the world’s second largest political body, you can easily see that the U.N. is now an anti Israel, left wing special interest group ( I won’t go into its religious bias. Suffice it to say that 16/18 the “Blasphemy Law” is all the proof we need that the U.N. we knew as children is gone.) I no longer respect the U.N. or consider that it should have the power of binding resolutions on all states. Those days are gone.

      1. The UN has not changed from what “it once was”. It has always moved in this direction but was stealthy in its progress. The NWO really owns this organization and the concept of “United Nations” is only an intended illusion. Division is its main goal. Notice how the UN Agenda 21 wants total disarmament of civilians…… Could you think of a reason???

  4. Your finest editorial so far Perry!

The question is HOW do we take our country back? IMO, the journey to regime happened slowly over a period of about 40 years via our media, schools, universities, Hollywood and our own apathy. All these institutions shifted incrementally to indoctrinating everyone with their anti God ideologies, usually in order to justify their own sins. In order to reverse this we would need to create alternate media, schools and universities and alternate entertainment.
The problem is the current REGIME will no longer tolerate this, and that in the name of tolerance and diversity.
Why could conservative and/or Christian writers not come up with characters like Archie and Edith poking fun continually at left wing and Islamic lies and half truths?
